Door crew install guide
Put the check-in app on your own phone before the event. It takes about two minutes, and there's nothing to download from an app store.
Start here
Point your phone's camera at this code, or type the address into your browser:
https://checkin.aoec.ca/install
Then follow the steps for your phone below.
Android
- Open the address above in Chrome.
- Tap Install app on the page. If you don't see it, tap the ⋮ menu at the top right, then Add to Home screen → Install.
- Find the AOEC Check-In icon on your home screen and open it.
iPhone / iPad
- Open the address above in Safari.
- Tap the Share button (the square with an arrow pointing up) at the bottom of the screen.
- Scroll down, tap Add to Home Screen, then Add.
- Find the AOEC Check-In icon on your home screen and open it.
First time you open it
- Choose Door crew and enter the door password. Your coordinator will give it to you.
- Type your name when asked. It's recorded beside each guest you check in.
- Tap Allow when the phone asks to use the camera. The scanner can't work without it.
Opened the link from Instagram, WhatsApp or another app and the camera won't start? Those built-in browsers block it. Open the address in Chrome or Safari instead.
On the day
| You see | What to do |
|---|---|
| Checked in | Welcome them in. The card also shows their sessions. |
| Already checked in | The code was used earlier. The card shows when and by whom. Check it's the same person, then let them through. |
| Not found | Go to Lookup and search their name. |
| Registration cancelled | Don't admit. Send them to the registration desk. |
- No phone or no QR code? Go to Lookup and search their name, or type the code from their email (it looks like AOEC-ABC123).
- Not registered? In Lookup, tap Add a walk-in guest. It adds them and checks them in.
- Checked in the wrong person? Find them in Lookup and tap Undo.
- Guest's screen won't scan? Ask them to turn their brightness up, and hold your phone about a hand's width away.
- The app needs the internet. Stay on Wi-Fi or mobile data, and keep your phone charged.
